Pernod Ricard seen down on worse-than-expected sales drop
** Shares in Pernod Ricard PERP.PA are seen down between 2% and 4% in pre-market trade after the group published a worse-than-expected sales decline for the first quarter of the year
** The French spirits producer posted a net sales organic decline of 5.9% at 2.78 billion euros for its first quarter compared with a 4.8% fall expected in a company-provided consensus
** The China softness was more pronounced than expected, with ongoing consumer weakness, Jefferies says in a note
** The broker notes Pernod Ricard continued inventory adjustments as sell-out trends remained weak in the US
** It adds the negative price mix was due to a moderating pricing environment and adverse geographic mix
** Shares in Pernod Ricard have been down 22% since the beginning of the year
