Santos 'dangles the carrot' with early first oil plan for Pikka, says Jarden
** Analysts at Jarden lower price target on Australian energy giant Santos STO.AX to A$7.9 from A$8; maintain "overweight" rating
** STO estimate FY production to be at the top half of forecast range and said Pikka project could start oil production as early as 2025
** Brokerage says STO has dangled the carrot of first oil production happening up to 6 months early
** Says the oil and gas producer's Q2 production update was in line but key update was a 20% cost increase at its Pikka phase 1 project
** Brokerage increases Pikka phase 1 cost estimate to $3.6 bln from $3.3 bln
** Stock has fallen 8.4% YTD, as of last close
