** Brokerage expects pricing and capacity to remain rational among both major Australian airlines, flag carrier Qantas QAN.AX and IPO-hopeful Virgin Australia IPO-VIR.AX
** Jefferies says recovery of Virgin Australia's revenue coupled with the lower cost base has continued to deliver stronger earnings
** Bain Capital-owned Virgin Australia's FY24 underlying profit before tax rose 16.7% to A$393.4 mln ($263.50 mln)
** Brokerage adds both carriers are now focussing on improving returns to sustainable levels in a bid to support investment in new fleet technology
** QAN has risen 36.3% this year, as of last close
