BHP had a solid start to FY25 post higher iron ore, copper output, says Morningstar
** Analysts at Morningstar flag global miner BHP Group BHP.AX has had a solid start to the year with co's shares trading 12% above its fair value estimate
** Brokerage has a fair value estimate of A$39 for BHP whereas co's shares ended at A$42.99 on Thursday
** Expects modest volume gains longer-term and forecast Western Australia iron ore sales rising to about 270 million metric tons by FY29, up 6% from FY24
** The world's largest iron ore miner beats Q1 iron ore output estimates, spurred by easing of bottlenecks at its Western Australia operations and also recorded higher copper production
** Upcoming stimulus (from China) is likely to focus on relieving local debt, stabilising the property market and bolstering business confidence — BHP CEO
** Analysts at Citi said they expect China stimulus to be a more important positive driver for copper and met coal than for iron ore
** Stock has fallen 14.7% YTD, as of last close
